ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway that goes to popular sites like Mount Pisgah and Graveyard Fields has reopened nearly 11 months after Helene caused extensive damage to the scenic highway.

The National Park Service said crews have completed landslide repairs at milepost 401.5, restoring access to the section of the Blue Ridge Parkway between NC-191 in Asheville and milepost 420—about two miles south of the Graveyard Fields area.

News 13 crews were on scene near the North Carolina Arboretum entrance to the parkway (milepost 393.6) when barricades were removed for the first time since the storm.

The reopening creates 38 miles of continuous access along the scenic highway between milepost 382 to milepost 420. This stretch includes the Mount Pisgah Inn, campground, picnic area, and several popular hiking trails.

I don’t think I’ve been on the Blueridge near Asheville but I’ve been on other parts a lot.
