Related: About this forumMy daughter just took her two week old baby to pediatrician
for checkup. We are in Albuquerque. There is a measles case in neighboring Los Lunas. She is advised to not let baby around anyone with even a sniffle and if there is even one measles case in our county (Bernalillo) she is advised to take her 3 year old son to get his booster early (not due until October when he turns 4).
Seems baby cant get her MMR until she is 6 months old.
We are a blue state and thus far our Department of Health is keeping up.
Just wanted to share with my NM neighbors.

(109,094 posts)to someone not fully vaccinated and showing symptoms, then hospitals SHOULD still have available (probably in short supply) measles immunoglobulin. Unlike the vaccine it is passive protection with protective antibodies and affords short-term treatment/protection in these cases for those too young to be vaccinated and young enough to be at significant risk from infection. It must be administered within six day of exposure, but the sooner the better if that exposure is confirmed to be to an active case of measles.
Just keep that in mind but avoid others (whose vaccination status or potential for exposure is unclear) right now.

(2,999 posts)That being said the newborn cant get it until shes six months old. The three year-old may have to have his early before hes four.
