Who's leading now in the N.J. governor's race? Here's what the newest polls say.

By Brent Johnson | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Less than a month to primary Election Day, the newest poll in the race for New Jersey governor shows U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill pulling away as the favorite for the Democratic nomination in a crowded and contentious field.

The Emerson College/PIX11/The Hill survey released Thursday also found her opponent, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, hasn’t gotten a major bump from his high-profile arrest last week — at least not yet.

Eleven candidates are running in the closely watched race for the open seat to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy.

Sherrill leads the Democratic primary with support from 28% of the party’s likely voters, according to the poll.
