N.J. drops nearly 225,000 from voter rolls

Every two years, New Jersey election officials remove inactive voters who have missed federal elections from the voter rolls, leading to a reduction of registered voters across the state by 224,653 since February 1.

New Jersey now has 834,184 more Democrats than Republicans, down from the one million vote advantage – a drop of roughly 17%.

Perhaps more significantly, the Democratic edge over unaffiliated voters has dropped to 35,697; Democrats passed unaffiliateds for the first time in 2020, and by Election Day that year, New Jersey had 87,198 more Democrats than unaffiliateds.

The total number of registered Democrats in New Jersey dropped by 87,174 in the past month, and by 89,607 so far this year. Republican registration went down by 37,921 since February 1, but by 27,441 since January 1 – a signal of GOP growth. Unaffiliated voters are down 96,538 in the last month and by 85,209 since the start of 2025.

I even tried to unregister. So some might be phantom registrations where others still live.

even though they're registered in other states and have notified the Board of Elections. I just toss the materials when they arrive in the mail.
