Concordia Parish sets June 27 special election on renewal of 10-mill property tax
VIDALIA, La. A special election in Concordia Parish on June 27 will include a ballot proposition on whether or not the police jury renews a 10 mil tax levy on all taxable property within the parish, which takes in an estimated $1,775,000 annually.
The Concordia Parish Police Jury, at its regular Monday meeting, voted 6-0 to adopt a resolution calling for the special election and to make an application to the State Bond Commission. Police Jury members Adam Probst, Wilbert Washington and Collin Edwards were absent on Monday.
The tax funds the construction, improvements, maintenance and operation of public drainage, buildings and facilities within the parish, including any equipment and materials necessary for that purpose.
The parish already collects this millage, which expires in 2027 after 10 years in effect, said police jury secretary and treasurer Ariella Carter.
