Wichita voters learn more about the 1% sales tax ahead of March 3 election

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The countdown is on to the March 3 special election, and voters are taking their final chances to learn about the proposed 1% sales tax.

Tonight, voters attended a forum as they try to learn about the proposal that looks to raise $850 million for improvements in Wichita.

Roughly 40 were in attendance inside the Carl Brewer Community Center and some of the biggest questions centered around funding for performance arts venues and trust in the city to use the funds properly.

Some also worried about unexpected extra costs but there were questions about the need for another performing arts center when the sales tax also looks to renovate Century Two.
