The 'times' you think you were bitten were probably mosquitos or spiders.
Fact is, most people don't have any reaction to bed-bug bites. Thankfully they're unknown to spread disease. They just poke you, take a tiny bit of blood, and go on their way, living in your bed and walls and curtains and ... wherever. Mostly your bed, if they can find a place to hide out. They only have to feed every few weeks.
Bedbugs, along with cockroaches, are our insect overlords. Very expensive to totally eradicate once they infiltrate buildings, the best a lot of people are going to be able to do unless they have their own single-family residence ... is seal their mattresses, giving them nowhere to comfortably dwell, put things under the feet of their beds that the bugs can't scale, don't let bedding touch the walls or floor, etc.
BEDBUGS F***ING SUCK. They're creepy as hell .. but fortunately they won't actually hurt you. Just steal your soul, and maybe drive you slowly insane. People have not only burned down their houses (both accidentally and on purpose) over bedbugs, they've also committed suicide. Not even kidding.
Yeah, We had 'em in our house. I think I picked 'em up from my office, cause we found 'em there too. And I had to work SO HARD to finally get rid of all those bastards, and spent a TON of money. It was a NIGHTMARE.
