The Trump administration is considering opening as many as six new Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilities in Colorado as part of President Donald Trump's mass deportation plan, according to newly released federal documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Congress approved $45 billion for new immigration detention centers last week, with Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert applauding what she called the "deportation machine on steroids." The funding supports the administration's goal of doubling capacity at immigration detention facilities across the United States.
ICE has inquired about potential detention centers in Colorado Springs, Hudson, La Junta and Walsenburg, according to the documents. The locations include former migrant detention centers, shuttered prisons and even the potential for a "soft-sided detention facility" in Walsenburg.
The GEO Group, the private prison operator that already runs Colorado's only ICE detention facility in Aurora, has suggested adding capacity in Aurora and reopening a 700-bed facility in Colorado Springs. Other proposals have come from private prison operators, private equity and real estate groups."

nor, unless this is Boobert's district, with the residents.
