Coming SoCal gasoline prices- alternatives?

With 2 LA refineries scheduling production cessation by mid2026, some analysts predict higher retail gas prices, if not outright shortages with ~20% less capacity.
Lots of options, what do you think will happen? There doesn’t appear to be enough grid capacity to switch everyone to electric (much less the capital).

1. Electric or even hybrid vehicles are the future. Anything people can do to reduce their gas consumption will be good.

For 25 years or so I worked in refineries and Power plants. I've worked at Valero in Benicia.. Us liberals like to believe in the goodness of others. I might see things a little different than some of the non technical people in our group. There are Ford Crown Victoria 4 doors which were made for CNG and surprisingly Compressed natural gas helps the vehicle last longer in addition to less pollution. The range is less but they fill up much faster than an electric vehicle. The newer vehicles with all their complex turbo charging and GDI engines are almost impossible to convert to CNG. Carpooling and riding bicycles help as well but in reality we are still dependent on the refineries to help the economy run. Trucks need Diesel to move goods around. We haven't as Dems ,or whatever you want to call us, been very kind to Oil refineries for a while.
