My ex once asked me "Did you just take another picture of rocks?" while we drove from the east coast to northern California in the 1990s. It was my first trip out west. "How many photos of rocks do you need?"
I am smitten by naked geology.
Here is another picture of rocks from Chiricahua National Monument in southern Arizona on an overcast afternoon in June.

(127,459 posts)loved to describe the previous eras as we'd drive in the countryside. It wasn't until I for the first time stood outside the farm she grew up in and looked at the view that I understood. She grew up with the most gorgeous view of the mountains and valley from the family homestead. It imprinted on her.
