It was hot here, so we drove 30 miles from our house to the park--nice and cool high up!
While driving through the park, we came to several elk grazing right next to the road. I would be a bit concerned passing the antlers one on a motorcycle! There are signs everywhere to stay 50' away from elk...good trick when they are right next to the road..

(154,860 posts)I especially like the second one, though all three are splendid!
Were you using a zoom lens?
Superb photos!

(2,937 posts)I am loathe to admit I used my PHONE! I zoomed on that second one. I had two actual camera lenses with me, an 18-300 mm on the camera and my wide-angle. I had not been expecting elk, we were at a low level semi-near the visitor center, and my camera was on the floor behind my seat since I thought I would not need it any more. We were behind a car for the close one and the first, and other cars were coming up behind us, possibly preferring not to be too delayed while we took pictures. So I defaulted to the phone that was right next to me. I know, shameful! We were at the front of the line for the one crossing the road. That one proceeded to walk toward us and pass right by the passenger window. It was so wonderful.
ETA--And oddly, the only processing I did was cropping and straightening.

Remember: the best phone is the one you have with you!

(21,416 posts)I love the closeup view of the soft velvet on those antlers.
They're all great, but that one is extra great, imo.
