Techincally, it is named a river, and flows high in winter.
After years of rainier weather the water has not stopped in summer. We've had many small, 5" fish but nothing like this 11-12" guy.

Bass are a little more square/rectangular with more pronounced dorsal fins.
Hard to tell!

(19,907 posts)The middle fork of the Chowchilla River is close by, and my home is attacked by mayflies in the spring. Where there are mayflies (and caddis flies and stoneflies) there are trout. Trout are easily spooked, so it's cool that you got photos. Maybe Nessie there isn't spooked so easily. But a bear might be on alert if it reads posts on DU.
