Sunspot cluster responsible for much of recent geomagnetic storms (taken this afternoon)

Sunspot Region 3664 (bottom right) remains quite active and has produced two more powerful flares over the past 12 hours. I took the photo at 12:47 PM today, May 11, 2024.

I'm glad to provide the technical details!

I used a Canon EOS REBEL T5i camera with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens.

You must use a solar fiter to photograph the sun in order to avoid damaging your eyes and the camera's sensor. I used an ultra dark optical glass filter with an exposure factor of 16.5 fstops.

I used a tripod and a remote shutter trigger to avoid movement of the camera during the shots.

I focused the lens manually.
