Most of them I know swear the metronome is wrong.
I prefer something simple. I have an old-school one with a rotary knob on the front that clicks. When I'm running up and down the scales and stuff it drives me insane. It also cleans up my playing after a while.

I use an older seth thomas electric with a blinking light on top..... From 10bpm and up..... I think max roach used the same model if I recall...
