(72,754 posts)Was a good filler tune in the earliest days of the band. It had to go as we got our style more defined, but it was a good tune to for our first 20 or so gigs.

(72,754 posts)The last band I was in lasted 20 years with the same four of us on-stage, same sound & light guys. We played over 1,600 gigs together. An average of just over 80 per year for 20 years.
The band before that played nearly 130 gigs a year for almost 3 years. We had a full crew, so we just showed up to play. No moving gear. And, we had an opening act about 80% of the time, so we just played a couple 80 minute set over 3 hours. That band, while very lucrative, got derailed by too much cocaine & some guys without enough will power. We went down in flames at the end.
In those last 2 bands I was 80-85% keyboards & 15-20% guitar. I'm pretty darned good at both.
I never toured or anything. Music was a lucrative hobby, but not more than that.
Here's a quick sample of stuff I messed around with a few years back. I'm playing & singing everything on these.

Would you mind if I try and post them in Music Appreciation?
You had a really good band! Thanks for the samples.

(72,754 posts)First, they've been in Music Appreciation before. You can post them there, but it might be redundant.
Second, that's not the band. That's just me. I've got a 16 track digital recording console in my basement. So, I played a scratch track on acoustic and voice.
Played drums to that. Added bass. Then put in rhythm guitar.
Next step was to sing it for real over the 3 keeper tracks. (Then erasing the scratch track)
Then I added other tracks for sweetening. Harmonies were always the last thing I did.
The first song (All Along The Watchtower) is a Dylan tune, made famous by Hendrix. My version is radically different than either of those.
The last track is a Velvet Underground song, Sweet Jane. Again, very different than the original.
The project was sort of like a jazz player taking an old standard and taking it someplace else.
Glad you enjoyed them.
