This song--the German version by Marlene Dietrich--was issued in 1928

and was one of the earliest ever recorded songs about a lesbian couple:



This version is by German American singer Ute Lemper, from an album of cabaret songs banned by the Nazis.

Here's another gay anthem from the same album and period:



Just goes to show how progressive Wiemar Germany was--at least in Berlin--and what we lost when the Nazis took control.
