I know, I know, Billy went off the rails. If someone forced me to pick, though, SP would be my favorite band of the 90s. Even more than Nirvana--by a whisker.

Without James and D'arcy it just ain't the Smashing Pumpkins.

The first rock band the drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin, was in was mine.
Kid was 14 years old, and his mom brings him to an "audition". He played half of one song and I knew he was better than all three of the older guy (18-20 years old).
I asked him if he wanted in, and he said "Sure!"
About a year later, he left to join a harder rock band that played more. Not sure how he played clubs at 15, but he did! Maybe a parent went to every gig.
I knew about it right after he joined Pumpkins. I figured they'd be good because he was in the band.
Disappointingly, he never mentions the band in his Beato interview.
Oh, well
