Cat Stevens & Elton John

Father and Son - Cat Stevens from the album Tea for the Tillerman released in 1970. Stevens sings in a deeper register for the father's lines, while using a higher one for those of the son.

Elton John - Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters from the Album Honky Chateau released in 1972. The song was inspired by lyricist Bernie Taupin hearing a gun go off near his hotel window on his first visit to New York.

“They know not if it’s dark outside or light “. Thanks, Taupin — you gave perfect voice to my feeling overwhelmed the entire time.
