Related: About this forumNeed help w/ a watercolor of my bro's house. He majored in art, so of course I'm plagued by a need
for perfection, punctuated by bursts of ill-timed impulsivity. What else does it need to finish? Shadows on lilac bush? Darker lines around windows and door? Start over because it's a scrubbed to death mess?
TIA!

all the added detailed light or shadows and the former is what I perceive.

(8,460 posts)If you choose to add anything, yes, maybe some slight darkening under the lilac for a shadow--but not so much that it detracts from your center of interest, the house. But I don't have much experience with watercolor so I don't know if even that slight adjustment would make it feel overworked. Right now, it's not overworked. Don't start over; it's gorgeous. What a great gift.

(15,131 posts)impression of a quiet, happy, rural home. For me, watercolor has always been a really difficult medium, though I have painted some oils. But this is crisp and clean. I can imagine a smell in the house like I remember from my grandparents - of good wholesome cooking. And I can imagine a little porch out back where there are a couple of chairs.
