Related: About this forumAnother portrait sketch
By way of introduction, I started in 1952 tracing comic books. The I graduated to freehand pencil drawings of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, etc. etc. In the 1960s I got into pen and ink and linoleum block printing. I even did a handful of illustrations for a small literary magazine. Then I got married, raised three kids, all the usual activities that distract one from hobbies. I set aside my art supplies until I got a set of colored pencils for Christmas. That got me started again.
Mostly I've been using old Dorothea Lange photos from the Great Depression as reference materials.
