Unity Spencer, (the daughter of Stanley and Hilda) was born while Stan was working on his murals at Burghclere Chapel. Unity was a talented painter in her own right, a skilful realist with a powerful imaginative vision. She had her first exhibition at the age of 84 in 2015.

The painting is rendered in broad strokes with a minimum of fine details. It has a strong presence all its own. The model is painted looking directly at the viewer with a steady, unwavering gaze which is unapologetic and her expression is neutral so you dont see emotion in it. I like it very much. Its powerful.
