(12,832 posts)Is so generous with their compliments.
When I post them to the group
. They sink
like the titanic.
I keep trying though. Im self taught.
Im going to get some lessons with my first Social security check just because I love painting and want to
learn how to do things right!
In the meantime I like posting in D.U. as I feel like my efforts are enjoyed anyway!

(3,877 posts)I think your painting is just fine. If you had not challenged us to critique it, I would have missed some observations. Upon scrutinizing I could say that the cat is disproportionately large, but that is a good technique. Great artists have done that in order to create the proper impression in the viewer's eye. I like the coordination between the curtain's sash and the cat's tail. Also, I like that the building appears to be looking back at the cat. Great work!

(36,454 posts)Creates a mood for the viewer, and yours here certainly does that, with the gray and muted colors and pensive pose of the cat. Sometimes its good not to overthink and obsess with things like straight lines. Just create a mood! My personal opinion. Very nice work.

When I switch up its like to have to relearn how to paint on the paper your using.
