The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsLife at age sixty and memories from my youth this morning.
Smiling laughing this morning memories as I drink coffee .
Thinking forty two years ago P.T. Young kid in the P.I.R. After the usual push ups sit ups mountain climbers then closing ranks for a five mile run.
A lot of us perhaps still drunk from the night before and functioning on a hour sleep.
Our old man the C.O. He was a marathon runner he is leading the company run were on our way back to the company area.
And the old man leads us to the obstacle course to close out the run.
And youre thinking what a fucking sadist asshole then we were young and could take it.
This morning after the gym walking into the grocery store I get a cramp in my left foot in the parking lot. No other options cant turn back you have to push through this because you are low on milk bones. And a big score shopping because you found a squeak chick for your rotten soldier.

(38,120 posts)mixed memories. Planned and worked for this time. Now retired for 24 years. ADHD, so Im as, if not more busy than my work years.
Mixed memories of my youth. Totally mixed. Loved fishing and time in the outdoors. Terrible time in school and never understood why until i got that diagnosis when i was 40. Lived with a family of academics. Not me until i turned 40 and learned to sit in the front and then outdoing all of them.
Was always on first name basis with the principal. Daly trips to his office. Myself and other found my comments funny, never the teacher.
I was a hunter gatherer and the rest of the family were farmers.
