Blind from birth! But BOY-OH-BOY could he still find his way around! EVERYWHERE! In TWO houses, ours AND Grandma’s next door. Including ALL the stairs in both houses. PLUS Grandma’s beautiful outdoor fish pond that he knew all about, and NEVER fell into.

Truly a remarkable dog.

If you didn’t already know that dog was blind, you WOULDN’T know he was blind. After awhile, I started thinking maybe there’s such a thing as “dog radar” or some such thing.

He sure knew his way around. Two houses’ worth. It’s 60-some-odd years later and I still marvel at that.

We were sitting in her living room and the blind cat was heading toward a doorway but the cat was going to run into to the wall to the right of the doorway. My friend stopped what she was talking about and said, "left." The cat turned left and avoided the wall. The cat understood left and right.
