Since deb posed the question 'what concerts did you see' my husband (who saw MANY more that me) said the one he would have LOVED to have seen is Paul McCartney. How about you?

She was very envious so we ended up seeing him 3 more times together.
Of course, I reminded her that as long as we were both going she was never going to catch up!

(77,662 posts)In fact, that may have been the tour that had no Chicago dates.
Pretty sure I saw Aladdin Sane & Heroes in the 70s.
In the 80s, we missed Serious Moonlight but saw Glass Spider & 2 other tours.

(77,662 posts)They were on the bill to open for Mott The Hoople.
Brian May contracted hepatitis in the early part of the US tour, so Queen had to bail on all the dates.
They replaced them with Kansas. I think you can envision how that went over with the glam fans. (Disastrous after Kerry Livgren insulted the audience for not being more enthusiastic. It got BRUTAL after he did that.)
At least Mott put on a great show.

The Screamers were early on the scene.
Interesting fact, the band had no guitars.

(14,617 posts)Missed it. Same with the Pretenders but did see them later.
Concert I would have liked to have seen would be Iron Butterfly doing In A Godda Da Vida
I've pretty much have seen all that I wanted to. During the days of my concert going tickets were rather cheap and my husband was off work every other week and my schedule was flexible. We also live right between Chicago and Milwaukee with Alpine Valley just down the highway so we were in prime area for it.

(3,458 posts)that I had saved up for for weeks with my pittance of an allowance, which was more often than not withheld from me for some imagined infraction or another. On the night of the concert, the evil step-father refused to drive me because he was an asshole of gigantic proportions. I knew better than to ask my mother because there would be hell to pay from him and she wouldn't have done it anyway.

(23,378 posts)they played on my high school football field.
I snuck onto the field without a ticket and got thrown out.
I walked the two blocks home and sat in my bedroom with the window opened. I could hear the concert perfectly!

(3,458 posts)My previous concerts were Herman's Hermits, The Cowsills and Paul Revere and the Raiders. BST was the first band I liked that wasn't geared toward the teenybopper crowd.
My first boyfriend's and my song was "More and More!" Ha!
Or was it "You've Made me so Very Happy"????? I don't remember "More and More" being a radio song. Whatever. It was one of the two.

(25,263 posts)When they were new and influential.
I've seen both bands in this century, Kraftwerk several times.
Also Roxy Music would have been great to see, and Talking Heads in their heyday. I've seen David Byrne and Brian Ferry live in the last 20 years, but when they were new and influential would have been excellent.

(37,605 posts)but then the pandemic happened, shows postponed, and they finally had them in 2022 but the dates didn't work for me. Now Morten has Parkinson's so I'm sure that was the last chance to see him, even if the rest of the band performs. Really wish I could've seen him live.

Concert going was usually a lucky thing for me, seeing all my favorites and others. Helps being in one of the most major cities.
(if you didn't see my post my favorites, and a few others, out of another about 200 performers )
The Beatles, The Who, Bruce, U2, almost all the Original CBGBs bands, C;S,N&Y, Midnight Oil, S&G, The Stones, Bowie, Janis.

(27,886 posts)Yeah, I can't remember exactly sometime in April last year I realized after the awfulness of him being reelected; and bc I tend to keep up with news local, national, world - I had to give myself "days off". Even avoiding DU on the chance I accidentally see something.
But I think I might try it ondays off obviously going only to the Lounge, the science, or cultural type stuff and see if I can not accidently see the u-kmkw-who stuff. I will consider it an experiment!

(3,512 posts)Always regretted my missed opportunity to see them on their Thick as a Brick tour. A friend offered me a ticket, but I (a nerdy teen) made the mistake of asking my parents if I could go and they adamantly refused permission. Should have gone and let them ground me afterward
by all accounts it was a fantastic show. F*k!!
Would also have loved to see the New York Dolls in their heyday
and the B-52s
(And many others Im not thinking of at present.)
