The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDo you get this riddle?
I heard Ari Melber say it to the Australian economist with the blond curly hair that some DUers are familiar with. Anyway, I didn't get it.
Why can't you trust kangaroos with the economy?
Their checks always bounce.
Please explain if you get it.

(320 posts)a cute joke. Referring to the way kangaroos get around, is what I would guess, since bouncing is their primary locomotion.

(534 posts)You don't know what a "bounced check" is?

(22,958 posts)but unless there's some kind of off color slang meaning I'm not aware of, I just don't get the "joke." Explain it to me like I'm five.

(534 posts)Kangaroos bounce. It's what they do. So their checks bounce.
It's that simple. Not really funny unless you're five.

(73,685 posts)Kangaroos bounce. People who can jump high are described as having "bounce".
As you said above, I think you read more into it than needed.
