Bitching about hotels

Why is it that corporate bookers ALWAYS put me in 'fancy' big name hotels with no refrigerator or microwave?

I would rather have a 'lesser' hotel with a way to keep a soda cold and reheat by leftovers from the restaurant.

Seriously, this hotel is literally more than double what I paid for a hotel one mile away that had breakfast included with a fridge for my caffeine fix and a microwave.

Not fiscally responsible with the department budget and not what I want. I wish they would always let me book for myself. I would get what I want and save the company hundreds of dollars on a 3 day stay.

My company once put me up in a $12K a night suite, and I HATED it. Yeah, the furniture was cute. There was no fridge, no microwave and I had to go down 12 floors to have a cigarette.

Maybe I'm just not bougie enough, but give me a good old-fashioned Best Western with free brekkie, fridge/micro, coffee maker and a balcony.

It's funny to me how many people above my pay grade wonder why I don't stay at the expensive hotel,s...use a cheap rental car, rather than pay for ubers everywhere and use spot hero for parking.

I can't fathom not being more frugal and using free breakfast at hotel so I have more per diem dollars for a better dinner. Seriously, I looked at their on line menu, French toast with bacon will be like $20. Luckily, they are doing Continental working breakfast.

Being in the AF, whenever I went on temporary duty I'd stay in billeting on-base. Basic room with a microwave and small refrigerator. When traveling between assignments, I'd stay at budget motels which were better than what you described. I guess you need to ask your company to get you a suite in order to have a microwave and refrigerator.
