"I was excited, I love being here. Man, I wish I ate a couple more, I'm sorry guys, but I'll be back next year," he said after the competition.
Chestnut set an unofficial world record with 83 hot dogs and buns during an unrelated competition last year, but that wasn't sanctioned by Major League Eating.
On the women's side, reigning champion Miki Sudo earned her 11th win Friday, eating 33 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

(73,658 posts)It would take me longer that 10 minutes, too.
Well way more, because I do Chicago style, so it takes a minute & a half just to assemble the dog!

(73,658 posts)There's an ESPN 30 for 30 about Chestnut & Kobayashi.
These folks get really fit before a contest, then eat sparingly for a few days before a contest.
Their metabolism is bumped way up, then they are low on intake, so they digest at an amazing rate.
Oh, and they do heavy cardio for the next few days & don't eat.
Kobayashi brought a scientific approach to these contests.
BTW: the woman who won only weighs about 120 pounds. So, she certainly isn't stuffing herself between contests.

Why not others for slamming beers, burping, farting and projectile vomiting? Let's show the world all the activities that make us proud.
