With Scarlet Johansson and Robert Redford. Scarlet Johansson plays a 14-year-old who is out riding with a friend when there is a terrible accident involving a big truck that kills her friend and horse, and seriously injures herself and her horse. Johansson's character, in fact, loses a leg, and the horse is so badly injured that he has to endure some awful suffering, and he should have been put down, actually. And a lot of the pain both the little girl and horse have to endure is psychological, emotional, trauma. The little girl's mother summons a horse whisperer, played by Robert Redford, and there is one scene in the movie when he tells the little girl, "Grace, I think that crazy horse loves you, and he was trying to protect you from that truck." In the scene in which the accident happens, the horse was standing up on his hind legs between the girl and the truck, pawing the air with his front legs, trying to stand down the truck bearing down on them. It's been a long time since I saw this movie, so excuse me if my description of the events portrayed is not perfectly accurate.
