This works like Temple Grandin's cattle press for persons with autism who have become overstimulated.

Hugs to all the furkids!
For dogs, tiny bit of a benadryl pill can also help calm them. Not sure abour kit cats.

(125,360 posts)for my kitty. It helps a little, as does catnip with passionflower.

(125,360 posts)people just do not care, even though fireworks are illegal inside the city limits.

(1,455 posts)All that was not enough last night. So today we are leaving our home and hoping that a motel near a smaller town will be better for them. My poor border collie is a mess as is this fucking country. How did this happen??¿☄️

(1,455 posts)But my booger is asleep on the floor and my Opie is on the bed. I think I'd like to find a little better accommodation next year. But, next year we will come for 2 days. How ridiculous that entire cities blow up their expendable money, for some, and money needed for necessities for others, in two days. In the process really messing up vets and animals... and us. I'm thankful we could afford to escape.

(71,938 posts)I'm glad you were able to escape, too!
Redneck firework assault in full swing here, non stop for well over an hour. Sickos!
Be well!

(1,455 posts)I hear that Lincoln was non stop from 8 am until past midnight. That shit should be illegal. In case you have never stayed in a motel 6... Never stay in a motel 6. After we turned off the lights to try to sleep we realized the place was so damp our pillows were wet. I think our dog's were even disgusted. Live and learn.

(71,938 posts)I cannot tolerate high humidity. Sickening. Anytime I have to stay away from home, I always check the AC unit before even accepting they key as they always try to dump rooms with crappy AC on me. Not having it. Ever.
I'll bet they were disgusted and equally happy to be back to their normal den today.
Enjoy your day!

(71,938 posts)I tried it when I saw your post & it worked for me. Sorry.
A teeny bit of benadryl can also help. Pls check online for dosing & contraindications.
I bought a generic benadryl from kroger yesterday for ~$3. Will likely try it on pupper tonight when rednecks go haywire with fireworks.
Pittie isn't afraid, he gets angry & wants to "protect" adult gs. It's cute, but annoying & stressful for pupper just the same.
Had a sweet Sheltie boy years ago who would cram himself between bathroom fixtures & shake like a leaf. Just heartbreaking.
I hope it works for your furbabies!

(20,352 posts)Which normally isn't a good thing, but this time of year, it is a blessing.
He used to get so worked up.
I couldn't even put one of those ThunderShirts on him, because the sound of the Velcro freaked him out.

(1,575 posts)according to our vet. We use the dye free one. They will foam/drool for a few minutes after you give it to them.
