give a ten dollar prize to the best decorated bike. I had streamers. cards in my wheel spikes that made noise and balloons. I never won but it was fun. All participants got an ice ball.of their choice.

The last few years we had a bubble machine and a Cookie Monster in candidate t-shirt.

(676 posts)For about 20 years, I've marched in the Coronado (CA) 4th of July Parade with out city's Democratic Club which is the oldest Democratic club in San Diego County. The course is one mile long, has 126 entrants, and is one of the larges parades is Southern California. I didn't march this year because I had a bad case of vertigo a couple of months ago I although I walk fairly well now, the slow pace of parade is hard for me to walk without "wobbling." I did march in the No Kings Day March and it was a bit difficult because there were 80,000 people, crowded, and I had to take small steps. Funny thing is I can walk fast without "wobbling."

First, as a Cub Scout, then as a Boy Scout, then as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol, then as an adult member.
Then, there were the clown gigs and other performances in a parade.
