The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAnyone remember the DU character Bob Boudelang?
Whats your opinion on practicing a little necromancy and resurrecting the angry - albeit wrongheaded - spirit of Bob Boudelang? It would be even more challenging now to produce good satire, but you can bet ol Bob has gotten his ox gored at least a couple of times recently. Truthfully, Im not certain who penned the original Bob tales, and Id feel like a graffiti artist (a good one, however) painting over someone elses work. If anyone knows the full story of Bobs creator and any future plans for the old gent, please share with us.

(28,472 posts)It would have to be updated, for sure, and its not hard to imagine Bob in some leopards-ate-my-face situations which an increasing number within MAGAtry are now experiencing.

(16,402 posts)I can't work up any positivity for his resurrection, or for a like character.
I'm in full "fuck them!" mode, and as hard as it was then to find much to laugh about politically, it's a whole lot harder now.
I'm all for humor, but... fuck them! That's my answer.

(28,472 posts)Satire still is a potent weapon, however, its probably better to direct it toward the actual subjects of ridicule than going through fictional characters.

(16,402 posts)I chose Groucho as an avatar because I love to laugh and enjoy life, but there's a war against decency being waged against us. I still smile. I even snort or chuckle sometimes.
But it doesn't come as easily, so I feel I'm right for me right now.

Friends are remembering Ed for his intelligence, wit and talent. But mostly, those closest to him and long-time acquaintances are mourning the loss of one of the most kind and gentle persons they know. Born in Baltimore, MD, Ed lived much of his life in New York, NY. He moved to New Jersey following his marriage to Diana Willhite in (1996). The couple lived in Morristown, NJ, before settling into their Washington home. Their early years there were enjoyed with their loving dog, Lucas, who passed away several years ago.
