Have you ever seen a bird mate. How do they do it? I know that some birds have mating dances but

I have never seen a bird have sex. I guess they like their privacy, but it doesn;t answer the question.

several children got the answer to this.
the basics r that he gets on top, and swings his tail under and rubs it on her. usually he grabs on to some feathers.
some birds do it perching. the chickens did it on the ground.

some birds have a courting thing, but chickens dont. had a neighbor who hated the roosters cuz she considered it rape.

they dont pee, exactly. it’s mixed w the poop. but that’s where the sperm and egg come out. they rub them together when they mate.
other birds will also lay w/o a mate. lots of pet birds get so attached to their owner that they lay. esp if the day/light cycles r just right. they sometimes do this til eventually an egg gets stuck, which is often fatal.

Male jumps on the female's back, they wiggle their tails to align their cloacas (a single opening for digestive waste, urine, and reproduction), and the male transfers sperm to the female, usually taking only a few seconds. Fertilization is internal.

I have never witnessed that with them or the Eagles. I hope you can find the pictures. I believe that both the Eagles and the Osprey move on to a big lake close by. My big pond holds some pretty good sized birds but not those 2.

They swim out to the middle and do their dance, facing each other, and bobbing their heads in out of the water. Then the male climbs onto his mate and within a few seconds it's all over.
