I did it! I just got my first shingles shot. I only have Medicare no part D and it cost me 300 bucks.

I hope the cost is the only major side effect, so far my arm is sore of course

I assume it lasts for life, but I’m not sure

The Shingrix vaccine provides protection from shingles for at least 7 years in people ages 70 years and older with typical immune systems. However, its efficacy can vary depending on individual factors.

3. Congratulations! Shingles is incredibly painful

becuase the virus inflames the nerves themselves. And the pain can last for months (postherpetic neuralgia).

I have Welcare Part D, I need to get my Shingrix shots soon. Hopefully they will be covered by my part D.

I found the first shot to be rather painful during the injection. The second shot, a few months later, was much easier.

Get Part "D" coverage while you still can before the Turd Administration eliminates insurance coverage for Senior Citizens.

7. I didn't have part D because, I hate insurance companies for one thing, and I was getting my drugs

Fairly cheaply with coupons. Flu and Covid shots were free. And, sadly, I have no hope that the law is going to improve anytime soon. Probably they will try to take it from us.

8. My doctor's office did mine and I thought they told me they filed it under Part B along with the office visit.

However, from the Medicare handbook, I see it is not a Part B covered immunization, so I don't know what they did. It is covered under Part D

RSV is also covered under Part D

Part B covers flu shots, pneumonia and Hepatitis B.

Why can't they just cover all immunizations under Part B?

Of course when I was a claims analyst for part B claims, no immunizations were covered at all.
