(17,522 posts)rated it "R," even though it was in reality a "PG." I really wanted to see it because Elton John was in it. Too young to go by myself (and years before I could drive), I talked my grandmother into taking me and I think it traumatized her. Sorry Grandma, but Thank you!

50 Shades Of Blue
(10,922 posts)I've always loved the soundtrack and saw the movie when it came out and had a real thing for Roger Daltrey for awhile, LOL!
Now the one who impresses me the most in the movie is Ann Margret. I think she really should have won the Academy Award she was nominated for.

(3,943 posts)We had some kind of crazy skunk attack out back last night, and even with the house closed up tight, the smell woke us all from a dead sleep. After a while, I went outside to see what the heck, and I didn't smell it outside any more, but inside smelled to high heaven, so I opened up all the windows (BRRRRRRR) and tried to clear the air. It helped, some. But going back to sleep was out of the question.
Fortunately, TCM was playing SEVERAL music-related movies. I was fascinated to watch the Bob Dylan's "Don't Look Back", which I have never seen! There were some interesting interviews, and some great songs (and I really do love closed captioning for things like this). It was about his tour in Brittan. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I didn't record Hard Days Night, I've seen it several times and after the Bob Dylan movie, I did find sleep again.
Now I'm watching "The Song Remains The Same", which I did see in a theater when it was released so long ago.
Me and Lisa were the biggest Led Zeppelin fans as we were growing up in Hawaii (sweet sixteen) - sadly, they had to cancel the Hawaii tour because Robert Plant's son had died - so I never got to see Led Zeppelin perform, although I did see (many years later) the Page & Plant tour in California. It was great! - I digress. Back to TCM...
One thing really did strike me kind of hard.... YOU KNOW YOU ARE OLD WHEN /Turner Classic Movies/ IS PLAYING LED ZEPPELIN'S Song Remains the Same.
I remember seeing it in a theater with my bestie Lisa in Honolulu. It was a big event for us (since we didn't get to see Led Zeppelin in person). Strangely, I don't remember the first part of the movie at all! It was the part that showed each of them in their family lives. I must have blocked it out. (Our idols didn't have families!)
My bestie was the Robert Plant fan, and I was the Jimmy Page fan. You should have seen our rooms! (wall to wall collage photos from Cream and Heavy Metal Magazines of our idols).
XanaDUer2: What a lovely walk down memory lane for me (I really needed it, been very depressed lately, I'm sure I'm not alone)
I will watch Tommy later today, after I get done with watching my Ukraine updates. I saw that when it opened in a Theater as well.
So there is my New Years Day summed up in a few paragraphs. I've been such a downer lately. My mom, who lives with me now, says it was her worst New Years Ever. I know I didn't help much. I'm at the edge of tears most of the time these days.
Sorry for yammering on, it happens when you get old I guess.
Led Zeppelin on TCM (gah!)
