Here in Wisconsin, we lower a giant cheese!
PLYMOUTH, Wis.
The annual Sartori Big Cheese Drop on New Year's Eve in Plymouth continues this year.
The festivities at the Plymouth Arts Center begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a cheese tasting table and a cash bar. Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and warm up at the bonfire from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
The highlight of the event is marked by a countdown and the lowering of a giant wedge of Sartori's world award-winning BellaVitano Gold Cheese at 10 p.m.

(23,117 posts)I was born in Neenah-Menasha before my family moved to the east coast. I've been a Wisconsin cheddar cheese fan forever and the Packers will always be my team.
Having lived in New York City for decades, the ball drop is a HUGE nothingburger. The crowds are ridiculously large (estimated 1,000,000 tonight!), there aren't any port-a-potties and alcohol etc. are prohibited. Why put one's self through that?!
New Year's Eve is really amateur night on steroids.

(Extra sharp for me, please 😄 )
(with added garlic, or caramelized onions? Even better! 😄 🥰 )
I appreciate wonderful cheeses whereever they are made! 👍
