(10,578 posts)...is it the the chicken kind of chix or the human kind?
I like Shredded Wheat. It's simple, tasty, toasty, boring, and free of bad stuff (sugar, salt, etc.). It also has lots of fiber and whole grains. Great with bananas and/or blueberries and your choice of milk.

(107,012 posts)But I had my time eating Frosted Flakes, Cheerios, Raisin Bran, and Rice Krispies--- before moving to the (sadly) no-longer made Product 19 and Special K.
But now, sigh, it is all about low glycemic index carbs (even though I'm not diabetic)... My appetite can be voracious after so-called "simple carbs."

(8,829 posts)I used to like Rice Krispies and Mini Wheats but I developed unpleasant digestive side effects when I ate both, so then I switched to Special K, which my digestion tolerated better. However, I never have particularly cared for milk, so I don't eat much cereal. I do eat grits and oatmeal.

(22,865 posts)Sometimes Mr YD gets Raisin Bran and I eat it when it is in the house. I used to hate it. I always liked raisins by themselves but hated stumbling over them in other foods especially oatmeal cookies.
My favorite hot cereal used to be Ralston but you can't find it anymore. I loved that stuff! When I was a kid I called it Red Oats.
I love cheese grits but consider them a side dish rather than cereal.

(102 posts)Honey Bunches of Oats, or Raisin Bran. Now I still eat grits and steel cut oats. I still like eating cereal by indulging in Chex Mix and make it with my grandkids. They like to include all the Chex varieties, Cheerios, Goldfish crackers, Bugles, Gardettos mix, Pik Nik shoestring potato sticks and mixed nuts.

(2,330 posts)The cooking time is ok, since have to wait half an hour after taking a pill that keeps the doctor happy anyway. Stopped eating Grape Nuts to make the dentist happy or that'd be the cold cereal choice. Should try the flaky Grape Nuts someday I guess.
