Does anyone else have to deep clean for the holidays?

I tend to let things go, and then when comapny is coming, I have to declutter, wash, dust, change beds, clean appliances, fixtures, floors, and then figure out food, and decorations if the holiday calls for them. Every year, I promise myself I'll do better, and I fail.

I realized this week that I'll clean, but if anyone wants to come for food, I'll take them out.

I'm proud of myself if most of the cat hair has been removed from the upholstery and I can't write my name in the dust.

omg, the clutter!

And then, after the holiday, I have to figure out where I stored what I was working on. Last year, I wrote notes and forgot where i put them. Maybe writing in the dust is the way to go

Dr. Jeckyll & Mrs. Hyde. She turns into a monster before we host anything. I try to help but it's never good enough. She's an absolute perfectionist.

And clean up outside. I miss his help.

Once he started to vacuum, he'd be at it for an hour or more.

But it'd probably be easier keeping track of where I put things. Tonight, I was beginning to feel like Uncle Billie in It's a Wonderful Life. The other night, my daughter stopped out with the outside lighted deer family she stores for me. The gift cards I got for everyone were laying out, so I put them away. I just looked everywhere for them this last hour. I was about to give up, but I saw one corner of one in a box. Whew! And it's going to be like the after the holidays with the decluttering I've done.
