This seems about right; adventures with a library book.

In acknowledgement of the American public's decision to commit national suicide, and to get some sense of the lead up to it, I ordered the following book out of the library:

Anti-Intellectualism in American Life, by Richard Hofstadter (Random)

(The book's been around for some time, but if there's any time that seems apropos of reading it, it would be the end of 2024, a year that will live in infamy.)

I picked it up the other day and got around to opening it up, whereupon the following fell out:



Seems about right; as perfect as any horror can be.
