(38,385 posts)How do they come up with stuff like this?
The latest with mine is that he will not eat unless I provide him his placemat.
Never mind that his placemat is only a piece of recycled copy paper from the office copy machine. He has to have it or he will not eat.

(8,582 posts)to watch her eat her canned food before her sister could gobble it up. Over time she came to expect me to do this whenever she ate whether Katie was around or not. Now Katie wants me to do that for her!
What we do for love. . .

(3,901 posts)One of my cats, would sit on that top cupboard above the fridge. I'd be in the kitchen making supper and get this odd feeling as if I was being watched. I was.
they need a place to get away from it all, too!

(272 posts)He, too, loved the tops of cupboards. To reach the ones in the laundry room, he would walk along the top edge of the open door and jump to the top of the cupboard. They're amazing athletes.
Is, shall we say in English literature, derring do!

Was a gorgeous gray delight and incredibly smart. We lived in the city and he would regularly follow me to the local market and wait at the front entrance for me to exit and then follow me back home. He loved all the attention he received from people passing by while he waited for me. My local neighbors loved him as well and referred to him as Ashley the dog cat. Never had another cat as intelligent as that korat. Ive had many cats since then, but he was one of a kind.

(272 posts)Pippin was really smart, loved people, wanted to be where the action was, and helped me through a lot of life changes. He and my Standard Poodle were best buddies. Gabby would clean his ears after getting a head butt from Pip.
I have two tabbies now, bonded brothers. One was so feral I was ready to return him. I tried one last thing that turned him and our relationship around. At night I began hiding "mice" containing dry food so they could stalk and "catch" prey, a more natural way for them to get food. It satisfied something in him, and he stopped attacking me and is now a momma's boy.

(8,059 posts)Cats are drawn to warmth, especially sunbeams. But out of reach of children is probably good - unless the cat is in love with the child or very, very patient. (When I was a baby and a toffler I had a cat nanny who was very, very patient. At least so my Mom told me.)

(2,206 posts)That was HOT broccoli cheddar soup I nearly expelled.
I would say that is our 'Red', but he's too lazy to attempt that.
He would need several Sherpas and many, MANY snacks for that kind of expedition.

(552 posts)But they prefer it warm and a little humid. The 2 who came in from under our porch (Audrey and Belle) want nothing to do with cool. And static is a problem for all three.
