The birds outside my place are making a hell of a noise

This morning. This is not their usual lovely chirping.
I suspect that some foreign birds have arrived for the winter or some natural event is going to occur.

Nature never fails to amaze.

From the end of August to early May, migrants from North America join resident birds in all habitats. About 50 migrant land birds occur regularly in Jamaica, and another 30 are observed occasionally. Over 30 migrants have been observed in the Cockpit Country.I

Every year thousands of migratory birds make epic journeys south. Many stop over in the Caribbean to rest and refuel; others arrive and spend the entire winter with us. Throughout Fall 2023 and on World Migratory Bird Day, we celebrated these beautiful visitors. We recognized and highlighted the amazing ways in which they adapt to endure such lengthy and dangerous journeys, and called attention to the importance of water to the survival of these birds. Check out the fun and creative ways in which Caribbean organizations got involved. Laura Baboolal, Caribbean Coordinator of World Migratory Bird Day for Environment for the Americas (EFTA), tells the story…

and those birds you heard were planning an attack like in that Hitchcock movie. I'd start by offering them bird food to protect yourself and stop baking them in any pies.

I'd love to see and hear it.

I have a little chihuahua (less than 5 lbs) and i would put him out in a corral in the back yard to do his business - no fence, it's a townhome - and one morning there was a murder of crows in the green strip just outside our house. I usually would put him in there and step back inside to do dishes or whatever, but this morning, I just stayed there with him. I felt the crows were telling me that there was danger in the area.

They communicate with us if only we’d listen.
I’ll try the video tomorrow - no guarantees. I am not good at these things😀
Hug that lil doggie.

It is a nearly 9,000 acre wetlands refuge that is closed to human activity from Nov. 15 through March 15, to provide a safe over-wintering spot for waterfowl. It is amazing to see the numbers of ducks and geese!

What is pretty rare up here in NYC is a more south than usual visitation by a Snowy Owl.
One showed up Central Par a few yrs ago, and the birders were having a party. Luckily photographs! Beautiful bird.

Otherwise our denzines are migrating, or staying put. Others come from somewhat further north but not the artic, and make stops here before heading southward.
