a job, and constantly waiting from moms SS payment to post.
This is so wrong. His elderly mother doesn't even have food security because he's apparently the one controlling her SS benefits. And now yet another monthly emergency that wouldn't exist had he gotten a job years ago when this grift started.
Even suggesting it has become a joke. We all know he has no intention of ever working if he can make up enough excuses to get out of it. Even a part time Walmart gig would gross 1000/mo. But he lives on the most dangerous street on the planet and can't ride a bike anywhere, and he's disabled even though he can't get SSI approved. Etc etc

I mean, I'm only getting ssdi. Its scary. But every month he has a disaster. I would get a job to not have to feel this way constantly. I mean, once the house sells and they have money, will this continue.

He can get a WFH job data entry. Meds can be delivered. Why is his mother constantly falling. Is all this true? Is there social worker? An elderly person AGAIN doesn't have food? Id be mortified if this was my mother.

you actually do get it. It's just that the rules of civility and etiquette prevent us from saying it out loud, and we should probably stick with that. We can dance around the edges, but we all know what is going on here. And it won't end until you-know-who gets involved and puts a stop to it. DU'ers have lost untold thousands to this. And who even knows if this is the only place he's posting this same stuff, and all because he doesn't want to work.
I went to a breakfast restaurant a few days back, and our waiter was a younger fella (25-30 maybe?) with what I believe was MS. I've seen him working there for several months now. He struggles quite a bit. But you know what? He got up that day knowing what he was in for, and by God, he did it anyway because all he wants is a life, and he wants to support himself. I can respect the hell out of someone who gets up and does that every day knowing full well they will be swimming upstream the entire way, beginning with things as simple as taking a shower and getting dressed. But he keeps doing that every day instead of begging for money on the internet.

Tue Dec 10, 2024, 11:08 AM

...while in nursing school back in 1972. Those of us enrolled in a summer elective called Chronic Pediatric were taken by our instructor to observe various activities at a sheltered workshop that provided jobs/activities for people with various physical or intellectual challenges. The folks working there did a variety of things - collating small local phone books, operating a machine that made the stick -on bows that we all put on holiday and birthday presents, etc.

What has stuck vividly in my memory all these years is a circle of people who were sorting items for recycling. One young man was very severely affected by cerebral palsy, and had extremely tight contractures of all his joints - couldn't straighten out his knees, elbows, or hands. His job was to crush cans before they went into the recycling bins. To accomplish this, he was sitting on the floor and would lean his whole body sideways against a can to flatten it. The image is seared into my mind's eye, and always brings tears to my eyes when I tell someone about it.

I remember thinking that if this young man, as limited as he was, had found a way to have a purpose, there was not much excuse for almost anyone to sit on their ass and do nothing.

Your mother put her house on the market at the end of summer?? Didn’t you claim she had offers? Once she received the offer, she would have negotiated a few days, she would have closed in about 30
days.

The real estate market here in Western PA is very strong. It can’t be that different in the Eastern part of PA.

Everyone here seems to be really frustrated with you. They offer incredible suggestions that you ignore. Usually you claim an invisible “donor” gave you money, you quickly delete the post when further funds fail to materialize.

If you’re taking anxiety medication just to post on a website, perhaps you should think about permanently logging off.

I think people would help if you were truly in need, but honestly it doesn’t seem to be the case.
There are literally years and years of posts by you exactly like this. Your poor mom has “fallen” numerous times and it’s always a last minute emergency. No food, mom is injured, etc etc. It is completely unbelievable in the true sense of the word. There is never any proof when proof could easily be given.

You have been given incredibly helpful advice with a level of detail that anyone who truly wanted to better their situation would appreciate. The only posts that you interact with are those who “donate”. You only want money, you don’t want help.

I don’t think it’s very nice to take advantage of people’s kindness. YOU have everything you need to better your situation. Please don’t continue this, allow people’s generosity to meet someone who is truly in need. That person is not you.

Tue Dec 10, 2024, 10:00 AM

He knows how to elicit sympathy. “Emergency” “mom is starving” “we have no bed to sleep in”.

If this was the first time seeing one of his posts, you would be inclined to give him money. What’s the big deal about giving him five dollars. Won’t hurt me and maybe it will help him.

That’s what he counts on. He knows that anyone who has seen any of his previous posts knows his claims are dubious at best. We know that if he had started working at his local grocery store two weeks ago, even using uber as transportation, he would have $300 right now. He knows the state will get a job for him. He knows all of this. But face it, it’s far easier to sit in front of a screen playing a game than it is to work. Just a fact.

The anxiety medicine he now claims to take, just to post on the internet, is certainly a new claim. Wonder how he managed to travel to THAT doctor. Certainly, not on foot, since he lives on the most dangerous road in PA.

He claims someone here on DU always “helps” him with money. It’s about time he’ll claim that, delete the post, until the next time.

I've told him about PA's version of the Dept of Vocational Rehab. They train, can get him new hearing aids( he indicated he needs new ones)and can place him in a WFH job. PA has an excellent, resource-rich dept. All free. Total help. Had he done this last yrar. He could have at least, food money. UBER money, etc. But he won't.

And practically every month this happens. DU cannot be expected to support him. And these mom stories are disturbing.

I follow bc I stupidly gave him a nice chunk a few yrs ago. And I think others need to know this is questionable. Every one is the last one. Gotta meet the goal. Mom is elderly, sick, falling. Going tothe Er etc. He won't use his Medicaid dentist. On and on. It is kookoo land at this point
