(38,683 posts)There's noting like being stoned with pretty Christmas lights! Maybe a with a half gallon of peppermint ice cream, too.

(123,795 posts)Christmas tree. I was going for a theme. My dad walked in and said "Put the red bulbs and lights back on the tree". He didn't get my artistic expression at all.
I like the white fairy lights that twinkle.

(7,631 posts)...there was a family on our street that used only green & blue lights outdoors. I thought it was pretty & distinctive.

(123,795 posts)They were sort of hung on some ancient cedar trees about half way up. I never got what my mother was going for but lights are never wrong.

(36,083 posts)Light can trigger a migraine, especially blinking ones so those are a deal-breaker for me. The white lights are pretty but even the mini lights are too bright for me.

(4,108 posts)decorated areas in the house. I have one of those laser light things and Im trying to figure out where to put it to shine up at my palm trees in the front yard in a place where it wont be stolen. Too many nasty little high school kids and thieves walking by.

(70,894 posts)Well, mostly.
We have all white lights on our yes & boxwoods all across the front yard.
But, on the south side of the yard we have a row of boxwoods that grew together into one continuous, curved 22' hedge.
Those are covered in blue LED lights, just to have something different.

(12,255 posts)I like the twinkle setting that fades every other light on/off but weve had a hard time finding that type. We bought new led lights last year - warm white that could be switched to several different color settings, then you could change the color intensity from full 100% down to 20 or 25%.
I love copious lights on our tree. I like how the lights reflect in the tinsel I insist we use 🤩.

Very pretty, and I thought of my mom.

(25,812 posts)I put lights on 25+ bushes and trees outside.
*back yard:
- a flamingo willow gets green string lights wrapped around the trunk and a few of the lower branches, and steady multi-colored string lights around the whole circumference of the upper branches and looks rather like a large lollipop
- 5 small bushes around the base of a maple tree get steady green string lights
- 3 arbovitae are also wrapped in steady green string lights and topped with bright white twinkling snow flakes
- 4 little I-don't-know-what-they-are bushes in front of the arbovitae get draped in steady multi net lights
- the maple tree has a warm white twinkling buck deer standing by it and the arbovitae have a doe and baby deer standing by them/ the baby deer is looking up at his mother, and the doe is looking toward the buck
*front yard:
- a big burning bush is wrapped in at least 8 strings of twinkling multi-colored lights and looks kind of like a giant gumdrop
- all the remaining small bushes in front of our bay windows are a mix of multi and white net lights
*the bay windows get electric candles in them
My deer are the Phillips brand carried at Target, and I like them because they have eyes and noses and look more like real deer, in a Disney sort of way, than the kind with no facial features. See link below.
