After Landslide Primary Win, Graham Platner Vows to Defeat 'Spineless and Corrupt' Susan Collins
"Graham Platner, a veteran and oyster farmer vowing to champion the working class against what hes called the 'spineless and corrupt' political establishment, officially became the Democratic Partys nominee in the critical race to unseat five-term Republican Sen. Susan Collins, winning more than 70% of the vote in Tuesdays closely watched primary."
'I love every single one of you, everyone who has shown up at a town hall, who has knocked on a door, who cast their votenot for me, but for a vision of a life in Maine that you can afford, a life of dignity, and a government that actually serves its people,' Platner said in his victory speech. 'The truth is, Susan Collins doesnt serve us, she serves Donald Trump. She serves the Epstein class. She serves her corporate donors and the corrupt political system that has rigged the economy against us. She does not serve us, and so we will defeat Susan Collins.' "
......
'Susan Collins may have started her career decades ago in Washington with good intentions, but she has become just as spineless and corrupt as the establishment she now serves,' said Platner. 'If you are an independent voice, why do you vote with Donald Trump 95% of the time? If youre so bipartisan, why are you the deciding vote to put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court? The deciding vote to defund our healthcare and our hospitals? Why did you rubber stamp the greatest redistribution of wealth from the working class from the working class to the ruling class in the history of our nation?' "

(595 posts)They immediately sell your information to list brokers - and yes, they grab your ISP - and their posters are mainly self possessed haters of Democrats. They helped greatly in the anti-Platner campaign. Im certain only to drive up traffic.

(1,748 posts)Will be enforced here? Lets move forward and get rid of the Nazi collaborator, Susan Collins.

(3,207 posts)But Platner is not a "real Dem", you know. It is OK to bash him and to repeat/amplify the claims made by long-time Republican operatives. I mean, they don't even try to hide what they are doing.

(1,748 posts)I didnt like the candidate choices in this race, but Im fully behind making sure he defeats Nazi Collins. If we want to be a majority party and win 60 plus senate seats in a country that is already rigged against us as progressives, we need people like a Platner who become engaged in politics. If we continue with purity tests and gatekeeping, we arent going to attract people to register and vote. One of our major soft spots is not being successful in turning out occasional or non voting members of the public.

(1,748 posts)Its going to get pretty hard to find pure unicorns to run for office. I think the public is aware of this, and although its unfair; why some of the stuff that should stick to Dump doesnt.

(3,207 posts)I never found Fetterman nearly as articulate and consistent in the positions he took before he went Manchin on us.
I know I am not the person I was 20 years ago and certainly not 40 years ago. It is plausible to me that Platner has gained a lot of wisdom over the years. If he hasn't, then he is working really hard to fool people.
He certainly has AIPAC convinced that he is who he says he is, and they are shitting bricks.

(1,748 posts)We will need to get people out of the cult. Im assuming a lot of them have made bad decisions and posts in the past, but, if they have seen the light, lets take them in and end the nightmare.

(3,207 posts)I am not aware of any other brainwashing institution he has been involved with.
The fact is that his populism, just like Mamdani's, is extremely threatening to the fascist establishment. And yes, this fascism has been coming on for decades -- long before Trump came down the escalator. Trump has prioritized the corruption element of fascism, but he didn't invent the thing.
These people will spend any amount of money to try to shut down the things Platner is talking about, just as they tried with Mamdani. I ask everyone who has been bashing Platner (he is a Democrat, and this site has rules against bashing Democrats), if I had a budget of $10,000,000 to investigate the complete private lives of those bashing Platner, what would I turn up? Would I find things these folks wouldn't want to face? I know somebody could find all sorts of things to attack me, and they wouldn't have to work that hard.
These are the politics of destruction. We expect that from Republicans, but shame on anybody here joining in that smear campaign.

(24,100 posts)and constantly blame the Democrats when things go wrong.
Hopefully this time, Democrats will win, even against the gaslighting lying machine of the GQP.
The rate the GQP are going, the economy looks to get much worse and they may install a draft because it looks like our country maybe in a major conflict.
Secondly, it looks like Brazil will not make the same mistake the US did. Lula for the win!

(1,292 posts)Someone should do a supercut ad of all the times Collins enabled Trump.
When it did not go the way she publicly anticipated and all her response was "I am concerned"
