1. The Senates referee killed a billion-dollar ballroom heist. Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that Republicans broke Senate rules when they tried to slip $1 billion into a Secret Service billincluding $220 million for Trumps free ballroom. Trump phoned Majority Leader Thune and demanded she be fired. She still has her job. Trump lost his billion.
2. Two Jan 6 officers turned Trump into a defendant again. Jan 6 heroes Daniel Hodges and Harry Dunn sued this week to dissolve Trumps $1.776 billion slush fundthe taxpayer-funded pot of money built to pay off the rioters who attacked them. Their lead lawyer is Brendan Ballou, the Jan 6 prosecutor who quit the DOJ over Trumps pardons of the insurrectionists. The men who held the line in 2021 are still making Trump answer for it.
3. Trumps secret tax shield collapsed before lunch. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche quietly posted a memo claiming the IRS could never again investigate Trump or his businesses for tax fraud. Sen. Ron Wyden caught it within hours and called it completely invalid. Even Blanches allies admitted he had no authority to sign it. They tried to do it in the darkthe light got there first.
