Supreme Court will weigh in on Trump plans to restrict birthright citizenship

(USA Today) WASHINGTON − The Supreme Court on Thursday said it would weigh in on the Trump administration's request that it be allowed to broadly enforce its new restrictions on birthright citizenship while the policy is being litigated.

The court said it will hear oral arguments on May 15.

It's the first challenge to the new administration's policies that the justices have taken up for public discussion. The administration had asked the court to scale back the nationwide actions that judges in Maryland, Massachusetts and Washington issued to pause President Donald Trump's order limiting birthright citizenship.

If a child is internationally adopted by U.S. parents but the birth parents are unknown, does that mean the current scenario where the child is considered a U.S. citizen by birth now null and void? This applies to tens of thousands of Chinese adoptees in this country.

If so, what a monstrosity it is.
