Does the US even have a FEMA aymore?? I can't keep up with all the news.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Mount Spurr remains under an advisory, as an eruption like those in 1953 and 1992 is still possible. However, a combination of recent possible changes within the mountain and the Alaska Volcano Observatorys (AVO) inability to detect volcanic gases via air or satellite data has led to some uncertainty in the current unrest.
The AVO said in a statement Thursday morning that they have been unable to measure volcanic gases from the air since March 21, due to poor weather conditions that have impacted Southcentral. Satellites higher in space have also not detected any sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the volcano since April 3. Cloudy conditions are the most likely reason for this, but its also noted that this could be a reflection of a decrease in gas emissions.
Additionally, the AVO said that earthquake activity underneath Mount Spurr has declined slightly over the last month, although it remains elevated. The observatory says that magma remains active deep beneath the volcano, as evident by the 60 to 80 earthquakes per week that have occurred deep within Mount Spurr.
Deformation of the ground has slowed down over the past three weeks, similar to what occurred in the fall of 2024.
While the likelihood of an eruption has decreased from last month, Spurr continues to remain at an elevated level of unrest, and explosive eruptions are still possible.
As weather conditions improve, crews will be able to collect new gas data, which will help improve the assessment of the possible eruption. .................................
