Americans looking for work haven't had it this hard in almost 3 years

American workers are taking longer to find jobs.

Data from the Labor Department out Thursday showed 1.89 million continuing weekly unemployment insurance claims were made during the week ending Jan. 25, up from the 1.86 million the week prior and near their highest level of the past three years. This shows more Americans are remaining unemployed for longer and continuing to claim unemployment benefits.

While the number of new Americans filing for weekly claims remains near its lowest level of the past year, reflecting a low layoff environment, economists have argued the elevated level of continuing claims shows its becoming increasingly challenging for workers to find a new job.

Oxford Economics chief US economist Ryan Sweet said workers' current perception of the labor market depends on their employment status.

"Conditions are challenging for those who are unemployed or not in the labor force but want a job," Sweet wrote in a note to clients on Thursday.

Tip of the iceberg. It's full speed ahead for the USS Trumptanic.

but also contractors, non-profits, insurance companies, and any other entities receiving funding from the Federal government or its operations. This will have a cascading effect on the overall economy. This is sheer madness and many in the general public (especially those in the MAGAT media vacuum) are failing to recognize the dire threat such actions pose. Unfortunately there are many of those clueless souls even on this site.

4. I'm a Physician Assistant working in Primary Care. I got laid off in September, and then hired for a new job a month

later. I haven't had any real difficulty getting a job since I started in practice. The irony, of course, is that a lot of people are going to lose their medical coverage, and we'll see a drop-off in patient visits.

This country is about to see a lot more suffering than usual.

Only 20 to 30 hours a week and no benefits for anyone. Even the assistant managers are part time. Hard to get a full time job anymore. So sad what has happened.

7. With the onslaught of tRUMP crap flowing out of the WH, as well as directives from the Musk presidency,

Industry, and individuals are all in a state of confusion, waiting for everything to drop, and also, absorbing the half-witted directives already issued by tRUMP nonstop, some of which he's already backtracked on, being that they were so confusing and irrational.

Idiot seems to think that EOs by themselves seem to rule the Country.

A threatened ‘trade war’ between the United States and Canada is momentarily on hold after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed to reinforce his country’s border patrol. US President Donald Trump finally agreed to hold off introducing 25% tariffs on Canadian (and Mexican) goods for 30 days, putting a temporary hold on a potentially damaging trade war. However, the bad blood generated between both nations may have a long-lasting knock-on effect with Trudeau initially appealing to Canadian citizens to reconsider travelling to the US and travel domestically.

Mexico has had a similar reaction too, to tRUMP's idiotic moves.

China, I think is kind of laughing at tRUMP. Sitting on the sidelines and watching the idiot perform. I don't think that you change the nature of the US/China trade overnight, although the Chinese economic depression has seemed to impact the Chinese economy.

And in Europe, European Union leaders gathered in Brussels on Monday to address escalating tensions with the United States, as President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on EU imports and left open the possibility of using military force to take control of Greenland, a territory of NATO ally Denmark. The meeting came as the EU continues to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion, while also navigating a growing rift with the U.S. under Trump's leadership. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that a conflict between Western allies would be a "cruel paradox" at a time of Russian aggression and Chinese expansion.

Who else have I accidently left out? The idiot in the WH is well on his way to literally pissing off the world within 1 month of the start of his term. Goes to show his gross incompetence. And my fear is that he's going to get worse. His mind is unstable, he seems to veer right and left on every topic, showing just how incompetent he really is.
