Witnesses saw an armed group harassing Helene aid workers in a small Tennessee town, sheriff says

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Witnesses reported seeing a group of armed people harassing hurricane relief workers in a remote Tennessee community last weekend, a sheriff said Wednesday as a man in North Carolina appeared in court for allegedly threatening aid workers in that state.

Although there is no indication that the incidents are related, they come with the Federal Emergency Management Agency facing rampant disinformation about its response to Hurricane Helene, which came ashore in Florida on Sept. 26 before heading north and leaving a trail of destruction across six states. Reports of threats to aid workers sparked a temporary shift in how FEMA was operating in western North Carolina.

In Tennessee, Carter County Sheriff Mike Farley said that witnesses reported Saturday that FEMA workers were being harassed by a small group of armed people in the remote community of Elk Mills, not far from the North Carolina border. No arrests were made, but Farley said that the people who showed up were looking to cause trouble.

“It was a little hairy situation, no guns were drawn, but they were armed,” Farley told The Associated Press.

just leave those residents to themselves. And good luck to them.

2. I would go one step further than you, Poindexter...

Where possible, pair of Fema workers with National Guard troops or other trusted military/authority figures capable of and allowed to shoot guns. Whenever a Fema worker came under fire of any kind... word, deed, or ammo... shoot at and at least wound the militia members doing the threatening.

People, we are NOT going to get these people back to living in a society once again, unless it's their own society, alone. So, if you don't want to split up the country (TOO many problems in doing that, tho I think they could be worked out), and you dont want to deport them to Russia, Hungary, or Somalia and strip them of their U.S. citizenship, then the authorities are going to have to do more than hand slap and call them names.

4. Why in the hell has this not been on every TV channel in the nation? Because news owners are part of

the rich and well off and likely Republican contributors. Do you think they want to reveal what all Americans should be aware of? Threating FEMA workers should be jail time for those involved. The Republicans only want to tell the masses that FEMA is not helping in disasters. What a nasty dishonest way to gaslight people into thinking Harris is not going anything to help...those of religious nature should not be supporting this as they have been instructed by the Master that behavior is evil.
