Republicans see trouble with independents for Trump

Source: The Hill

Republican senators are growing increasingly concerned about President Trump’s weak polling numbers with independent voters and warn that the GOP may be headed for a political wipeout in the November election because Trump’s popularity with Republican primary voters isn’t translating across the broader electorate.

Several Republican senators told The Hill that polling data shared at a Tuesday conference meeting by Senate Republican Conference Committee Chair Tom Cotton (Ark.) indicated Democrats have a significant polling lead among independents five months before the general election.

The data circulated among Republican senators showed Democrats with a double-digit lead among independents.

The GOP senator said independent voters, including those who supported Trump in the 2024 election, are most concerned about “their pocketbook, their wages, inflation, and a lot of those people think that’s not the top priorities of what Republicans are doing right now.”

Independents are going to be deciding elections for the foreseeable future. They are the largest bloc of voters, and they are growing. It seems to be changing from the past where they leaned towards one party or the other and they voted that way.

Good to see no such thing exists. Many ‘independents’ fashion themselves as ‘above’ the political fray, but they’re getting affected like everyone else now.

2. I don't think many independents are "for" Chump, but they're often "against" something else

Sometimes they think they're against our Democratic candidates, if they've been told not to like somebody. An example of that is (sorry to bring this up) "What about her emails?" But just as often it could be an idea that they're against. For example: don't tell me I have to wear a facemask, I don't need to get vaccinated, etc.

Independent voters have shown that they can be swayed easily, when the conditions are ripe. Things like nasty memes on social media can be enough to convince those fickle voters, "Oh I don't like that person," when in fact the memes are mostly lies. The persecution of Hunter Biden is a perfect example. Meanwhile Uday and Qusay are fashioning a whole new definition for the word "corruption" right out in the open, and nobody blinks an eye.

But WE NEED THOSE INDIE VOTES to help us defeat Chump's party for good and forever. It's hard for Democrats to understand this, but the independent voters will make the difference almost every time. If we can't get them on our side, we won't win.

4. Gee, I wonder why they would think pocketbook issues aren't a top GOP priority.

They are focused on building a ballroom, painting a pool, hosting a UFC fight, building an arch, fighting a war in Iran, overthrowing the Cuban government, exempting him and his family from tax audits, rewarding themselves with an anti-weaponization fund. What else do they want?
